Improve your life with exercise!

Did you know research has shown that balance begins to decline in midlife, starting around age 50? But it’s also been shown that balance exercises are an efficient, cost-effective way to improve balance control and confidence in seniors?
Better Balance! Steady and Strong™ is a custom, virtual exercise class for older adults created by a Physical Therapist. Join the fun and learn a program designed to increase your stability, develop your strength and improve your life!

HOW IT WORKS

Are you looking for an exercise program designed to improve your everyday life and work with your schedule?

I’m Diane Markovitz and I’ve been a licensed Physical Therapist for over 30 years. I’ve used my experience to develop an exercise class for older adults to meet the needs of my clients and the community. Join my custom program, Better Balance! Steady and Strong™ and work with me in the comfort of your home. You’ll learn a program designed to increase your stability while also improving your strength and daily function. Hour long exercise classes are offered live, once a week over Zoom. Every class is also recorded and available for you to watch for a week until the next live class. You can watch the recorded class repeatedly throughout the week at your convenience! No special equipment is necessary and all exercises are completed sitting or standing. This program is suitable for beginners yet appropriate for those with more exercise experience as it is able to be adapted to fit individual needs

I’ve been a Physical Therapist since 1992. I was fortunate to always enjoy my jobs in traditional therapy settings but found myself constantly frustrated by the lack of resources for clients after they finished one on one therapy. I was asked to teach a community based balance class in 2020 and was hooked. I developed Better Balance! Steady and Strong™  and never looked back!

I’ve continued to develop and teach a variety of programs for older adults both online and throughout the Pittsburgh area and have never been happier or more fulfilled. My favorite part of teaching is getting to know the folks in my classes and hearing their stories of how exercise has made a difference in their daily lives. I focus a lot of my teaching on ways that people can carry over what they learn in class so it continues to have a lasting impact on their health. I truly believe that no matter one’s age or limitations, everyone can, and deserves to feel stronger and more confident in their own bodies!

In addition to Better Balance! Steady and Strong™, I have developed Bone Health! Steady and Strong™, a class for those with bone density concerns. I also hold certifications in PWR! Moves for Parkinson’s Disease, Bone Fit, and the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program.  I am a certified instructor for On the Move: Group Exercise for Improved Mobility in Older Adults® and part of a research team at the University of Pittsburgh that studies the effect of On the Move in the community. I have a degree in Physical Therapy from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
